The Observation Tower and the Austin360 Amphitheater were designed by Austin-based Miró Rivera Architects. The architects’ inspiration was taken from the precision, dynamism and performance-driven design of race cars and evokes the excitement of extreme speed and movement. Massive red, steel tubes sweep down from the top of the Tower over the amphitheater stage, tying the two structures together. The brightly colored tubes are a prominent design feature throughout the 350-acre venue and add to the consistent visual experience envisioned by the designers. The Austin360 Amphitheater’s architectural composition is visually striking and showcases the buildings’ structural systems rather than concealing them behind a façade.
